On Tuesday, 2/9/ 2025, Misrata international airport hosted a celebration marking the launch of Turkish Airlines’ first flights to and from the airport. This step reinforces the city’s connectivity to international destinations and revitalizes air and economic activity in the region.

The ceremony was attended by the chairman of Misurata chamber of commerce, Mr. Fathi Al-Amin Al-Turki, accompanied by the minister of transport in the government of national unity, the Mayor of Misrata, the Ambassador of the republic of Turkey to Libya, the Head of the airports authority, the head of the Civil Aviation authority, and a delegation from Turkish airlines, in addition to a number of officials and directors of sectors and institutions within the municipality.

The resumption of Turkish Airlines flights is an important step in supporting the air transport sector and facilitating passenger movement. This return has been widely praised.
