Misurata chamber of commerce, industry and agriculture holds its third meeting with owners of companies exporting and importing goods through Misurata free zone port.
On Tuesday morning, 29/10/ 2024, at the headquarters of the land transport union in Al-Battah square, Mr. (Fathi Al-Amin Al-Turki), chairman of the board of directors of the chamber, accompanied by Mr. (Ihab Al-Hadi Al-Awaib) and Mr. (Hani Abdullah Badi), members of the board of directors of the chamber, and Mr. (Abubakr Abdul-Bari Shanab), general manager of the chamber, held an expanded meeting that included a group of businessmen, owners of companies exporting and importing goods, the customs brokers syndicate, and a large number of the transport union association within Misurata city.
During this meeting, the arbitrary decisions taken by the director general of the general administration of audit and inspection at the customs authority on the import and export of goods through Misurata port were discussed, the most important of which is adherence to the valuation lists by the piece instead of the previous known procedure, which is the survey valuation or by the container, and the decision to implement the ACI advance registration system to track imported and exported goods, as this procedure is applied to the ports of Misurata – Al-Khums ,and Tripoli without other ports within Libya, which causes the high cost of imported goods through these ports and its impact on the shoulders of the common citizen. This meeting also discussed the difficulties facing the owners of car import companies, as well as the cancellation of the decision of the Minister of planning No. 1 of 2024 regarding the import of agricultural fertilizers on the pretext that they contain potassium (40 k), based on the issuance of the Libyan standard specification (Q.M.L. 1106) issued by the national center for Libyan specifications and standards affiliated with the ministry of planning. It was also agreed during this meeting to prepare grievance memoranda to present them to all relevant competent authorities to reconsider These unjust decisions only contribute to disrupting economic and commercial activity in the western region and increasing the financial burdens on ordinary citizens.
The attendees also agreed to organize a protest in front of the office of the attorney general in Misurata on Thursday, 31/10/2024 at 11:00 AM
