Misurata chamber of commerce, industry and agriculture holds its second meeting with owners of companies exporting and importing goods through the free zone port

On Saturday morning, 26/10/2024, at the administrative headquarters of the Misurata chamber of commerce, , Mr. (Fathi Al-Amin Al-Turki), chairman of the board of directors of the chamber, accompanied by a number of members of the board of directors of the chamber, held an expanded meeting that included a group of businessmen, owners of companies exporting and importing goods, the customs brokers syndicate, and the transport association within Misurata.

During this meeting, the arbitrary decisions taken by the general manager of the general administration of audit and inspection at the customs authority on the import and export of goods through the port of Misurata were discussed, the most important of which is adherence to the valuation lists by the piece instead of the previous procedure known as the valuation by area or container. and the decision to implement the ACI advance registration system to track imported and exported goods, as this procedure is applied to the ports of Misurata – Al-Khums – Tripoli without other ports within Libya, which causes the high cost of imported goods through these ports and its impact on the shoulders of the common citizen. During this meeting, the difficulties facing the owners of car import companies were discussed, in addition to the decision of the Minister of Economy and Trade No. 362/2024 regarding the regulation of trade activity in agricultural pesticides and public health and the resulting increase in the price of fertilizer, which will result in an increase in the prices of agricultural products. On the sidelines of this meeting, the attendees held a protest in front of the office of the Attorney General in Misurata. A meeting was also held with the member of the Misurata Municipality, Mr. (Ismail Al-Jarou), at the Misurata Municipality headquarters to look into this problem and address the relevant and competent authorities to limit these random decisions taken towards the ports of the western region.
